Stuff, stuff, stuff

To move son no. 2's bedroom from small room to larger room:

clear all books off (wall of) bookshelves
sort books
take lots to charity shops
make several piles of the rest
move all yarn
chuck out junk
take stuff to charity shops
sort out old gardening magazines
recycle
get new bed from Mother's house
empty cupboard to make way for clothes
chuck out junk
take stuff to charity shops
... and so it goes on

To sell Mother's house and clear it out:

bring some furniture here
put it in various rooms
move previous furniture
sort out clothes etc.
chuck out junk
take stuff to charity shops
... and so it goes on

Net result:

Son still not moved to new room, too much furniture, piles of books, yarn inaccessible. However, I have 'rationalised' several old ufo's and all my yarn is sorted and safely snuggled up in ziploc bags.

Throw into the mix guests and a very enjoyable trip to Switzerland and you see why I haven't been blogging.

Also, I have to confess that I haven't yet taken the Kisiizi knitting to Essex, where the shipping is organised. There will be another container going out to Uganda, even if I have missed the October deadline, so it's not a complete failure, but I'm sorry that there is this delay.

I have been knitting - making progress on my Smooshy socks and getting well into my Blue Bowl fair isle waistcoat. I'm actually keeping an open mind about whether it should evolve into a cardigan - I'll see how the yarn quantities hold up.

Three fun fibery things coming up at the end of the week. On Friday afternoon I'm going to a talk by Kaffe Fassett at Peter Jones and in the evening to the yarn tasting at Stash. Then on Saturday Sue and I are going to Brighton to meet Jan and go to the Indigo exhibition. [Edited: KF event is on 28th! Thanks, Dawn]

Starmore Fair Isle book

This is really a message for Diane (from Stash)! Don't know if you read this blog, or if someone can pass this on to you. There's a very reasonable Alice Starmore Fair Isle Book on eBay here. The auction ends today.
